Vogel discusses playing the cello for Stokowski in Seal Harbor, Maine; auditioning for and becoming a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra; an experience of rehearsing under Stravinsky's conducting while Stokowski observed; his experiences as a publisher of new music with Stokowski, Toscanini, and Koussevitzky competing to be the first to premiere certain works such as Ravel's Bolero and Piano Concerto; and his impressions of Stokowski's return to Philadelphia 19 years after leaving his position with the Philadelphia Orchestra. He mentions Hans Kindler, Olga Samaroff Stokowski, Josef Hofmann, Fritz Kreisler, Vincent Persichetti, Ossip Gabrilowitsch, Leopold Godowsky, Arthur Judson, and Alex Smallens.
